dry winter

In the summer of 2012, we converted a 1940’s mountain cabin at Lake Tahoe, California into a summer studio. We liked it enough that we decided to stay and experience the winter. But instead of skis and snowshoes, we were still using hiking boots late in January for wandering back country trails.

I’ve always enjoyed the 1920’s landscapes of Edgar Payne. I’ve heard the rumor he invented Payne’s Grey to get the right effect in a mountain landscape. I bought some Payne’s Grey.

Latest paintings are first.
